Movies we watched in June

It's July! And that means one thing! Liv and I are looking back on the movies we watched in June.

Carola

In June, I was still rewatching Game of Thrones. So still, watching less movies. Nevertheless, I also have a cinema subscription now which means more cinema movies :). So less DVDs at the moment, more cinema time. But still, I have seen less movies than you're used too! Well, I won't talk too much, let's just move on to the movies I watched in June!

De Libi

Year: 2019

Genre: Comedy

IMDB score: Not available yet

My score: 3

Remark: I watched this movie in the Sneak Preview, so I didn't know I would see this movie. It was not my cup of tea.

Rocketman

Year: 2019

Genre: Biography

IMDB score: 7,7

My score: 6,

Remark: Again a movie I watched in the cinema. It's a movie/ musical about the breakthrough of Elton John.

Five Feet Apart

Year: 2019

Genre: Drama

IMDB score: 7,2

My score: 6,5

Remark: Another movie I watched as sneak preview. A movie about 2 teenagers with cystic fibrosis. They meet in the hospital and fall in love. But: Their decease means the have to keep a distance of 5 feet. I thought the movie was a bit predictable, but still a nice watch. And great to see Cole Sprouse (who plays Jughead in Riverdale)  in this movie.

Child's Play

Year: 2019

Genre: Horror

IMDB score: 6,3

My score: 2

Remark: I actually didn't want to go and see Child's Play in the cinema. As some of you might know, I am a little bit Child's Play obsesses, I totally love the movies! But when I saw the trailer for the new Child's Play, I didn't like it at all. But when it came out, I read quite some good comments. These got me curious and before I knew it, I was watching Child's Play in the cinema. Well, it was not a success. I did not like it at all.

Apollo 11

Year: 2019

Genre: Documentary

IMDB score: 8,3

My score: 8

Remark: A documentary about the Apollo 11 mission to land on the moon. Loved seeing this documentary in the cinema!

Long Shot

Year: 2019

Genre: Comedy

IMDB score: 7,2

My score: 7

Remark: I rarely watch comedy movies. But I had seen the trailer of this movie so often and it looked nice. Besides that, I have a summer cinema subscription, so I'm watching a lot of movies in the cinema! And I have to say: It was a nice movie. Only one thing: We were re-watching Game of Thrones (I was re-watching, Sig was watching it for the first time). And we were at the start of season 7 at that moment. And the movie shows a HUGE spoiler of season 7. Bummerrrr.....

Liv

Over the last month, I haven't watched as many movies as I wanted to, but that is what I say every month and it all has to do with one simple thing: the lack of time! Sometimes I reminisce about what it would be like to not have to work anymore and earn a living with Conmose. Just watch movies and series all the time, travel the world to visit comic cons (in our private jet)......ah well one can dream, right? Of course I did watch some movies last month and I even did a movie marathon in the cinema...Let's talk about the movies I watched in June.

Aladdin

Year: 2019

Genre: Adventure/Comedy

IMDB score: 7,4

My score: 7,5

Remark: This was the first movie of the 3 movie marathon I did with my brother. It's the live action remake of the Disney classic. I really liked it! As a big fan of the animated Disney films (like "Beauty and the Beast", "Jungle Book", "The Lion King", "Aladdin") I love the fact that Disney is remaking them as live action movies. You can imagine how much I am looking forward to "The Lion King"!

Rocketman

Year: 2019

Genre: Biography

IMDB score: 7,7

My score: 8,5

Remark: The second movie of the marathon was "Rocketman", which revolves around the breakthrough (and downfall) of Sir Elton John. Last year "Bohemian Rhapsody" hit the cinemas and it was a huge success. As I am a big fan of everything Queen (and Mercury) have done, I was completely blown away by he movie. I thought "Rocketman" was even better than "Bohemian Rhapsody", because "Rocketman" seems to be more raw than the more 'family friendly' "Bohemian Rhapsody". Which doesn't change the fact that "Bohemian Rhapsody" was a great movie!

X Men: Dark Phoenix 4DX

Year: 2019

Genre: Action/Adventure

IMDB score: 6,1

My score: 6,5

Remark: And then the third one of the marathon. We watched the movie in 4DX, which means that your chair rocks, it rains, there is lightning, wind and much more.

Nattevagten (Nightwatch)

Year: 1994

Genre: Thriller

IMDB score: 7,3

My score: 7

Remark: This Danish movie marks Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's breakthrough in his home country Denmark. It wasn't until 2011 that the whole world got to know him as Jaime Lannister in "Game of Thrones". The movie "Nattevagten" got an American remake in 1997, starring Ewan McGregor, Patricia Arquette and Nick Nolte.

Gladiator

Year: 2000

Genre:  Action/Adventure

IMDB score: 8,5

My score: 9,5

Remark: This is one of my favorite movies ever made...I watched it 4 times in the cinema and numerous times afterwards.

The Favourite

Year: 2018

Genre:  Biography/Drama

IMDB score: 7,6

My score: 7

Remark: I liked the movie, but I also thought it was a bit strange. Not that there is anything wrong with that...Especially Olivia Colman as Queen Anne is amazing.
