The rich Jason Blossom and his twin sister Cheryl go out on a boat together. Only Chreyl returns. She claims that she lost her glove during the boat trip. Jason jumped into the water to get it. But never returned. The whole town of Riverdale is struck with his mysterious disappearance/ death. His body hasn't been found. No one seems to know what exactly happened. But everyone keeps talking about it.
A new girl arrives in town. Veronica Lodge. Rich girl in New York. But trying to build a new life in Riverdale. She becomes friends Betty, Archie, Kevin and Jughead. They hang out and face regular high school issues. But they also try to unravel the mysteries of Riverdale..
My opinion
Riverdale is my new addiction! It's on my watch list for a while now. But I've always had my doubts. Somehow, I thought I wouldn't really love it. But I do! I started watching Riverdale less than 2 weeks ago because I knew Lochlyn Munro would be a guest at Weekend of Hell, Dortmund. After watching an episode, I knew I had a new addiction.
The series has great characters, awesome actors and an intriguing plot. I like the variety in characters. It seems like the series has the standard high school figures: The girl next door, the outsider, the cheerleader, the gay best friend etc. And partly that's true. But they're all so much more than the stereotype and Riverdale succesfully shows that. Each character has more sides and it's great to discover that. There are nice twists and surprises, but not too much.
The casting is great, I love all the actors in the series and I I can never wait to watch the next episode!
The actors
Like I already mentioned: I love the casting! I wasn't really familiar with most of the actors. So many new faces for me. I started watching because Lochlyn Munro (Betty's dad) would be attending Weekend of Hell in Dortmund, Germany. And I know Skeet Ulrich for his role in Scream. My favorite characters are Jughead and his dad FP. Actors in this series:
