Movies we watched in March

February went by soooooo fast. It was March before we knew it! Where January and February are usually a bit boring, March is really the opposite. A busy month! (And we love it!). So let's talk about the movies of march!

Carola

Se7en

Year: 1995

Genre: Crime/ Drama

IMDB score: 8,6

My score: 9

Remark: I watched this movie for the third time I think. And I still love it. It's about 2 detectives that are hunting a serial killer. That serial killer is basing his kills on the seven sins.

Foxy Brown

Year: 1974

Genre: Crime/ Action

IMDB score: 6,5

My score: 7

Remark: I watched this movie because we will see Pam Grier at Weekend of Hell. I have watched quite some movies she stars in lately and I absolutely love it! She's so awesome.

Nerve

Year: 2016

Genre: Action/ Crime

IMDB score: 6,5

My score: 6,5

Remark: This movie has been added to Netflix Netherlands recently. But I already had it on DVD since Christmas. I kind of forgot about it, and then I saw in the collection again and really wanted to watch.  I really like the concept of the movie. But I think the overall story and ending could have been better.

Us

Year: 2019

Genre: Horror/ Thriller

IMDB score: 7,4

My score: 6,5

Remark: The director of Get Out, now presents Us. I won't tell about the plot. You'll have to see for yourself. I just thought it was a very weird movie. Entertaining, but weird. Not too bad, but I'm not super enthusiastic either. still have some questions left.

It

Year: 2017

Genre: Horror/ Thriller

IMDB score: 7,4

My score: 8

Remark: I watched the 'new' It movie again because we're going to Weekend of Hell/ German Comic Con in April. Can't wait. And also Can't wait for It: Chapter Two this year!

Rocky IV

Year: 1985

Genre: Drama/ Sport

IMDB score: 6,8

My score: 7

Remark: I am slowly watching all the Rocky movies. I know, I started late. But I really like it.

Ginger Snaps 3

Year: 2004

Genre: Drama/ Horror

IMDB score: 5,9

My score: 6

Remark: I also watched this movie as a preparation for weekend of Hell/ German Comic Con. I had already seen the previous 2 Ginger Snaps movies.

Le Jeu (Nothing to Hide)

Year: 2018

Genre: Comedy/ Drama

IMDB score: 6,9

My score: 7,5

Remark: We watched this movie in the Sneak Preview. I had never heard of Le Jeu before. But it was a fun movie! It's about a group of friends who all have dinner together. They decide to play a game and put all their phones on the table. Whenever something comes in on a phone, they share it with everyone...

The Expendables

Year: 2010

Genre: Action/ Thriller

IMDB score: 6,5

My score: 8

Remark: I love the Expendables. I watched it now for the second or third time. Because we will see Dolph Lundgren at Weekend of Hell! I can't wait. And hopefully, I'll meet Jason Statham one day as well!

Kabluey

Year: 2007

Genre: Comedy

IMDB score: 6,7

My score: 7,5

Remark: I saw a DVD of Kabluey when I was in San Francisco last year. i didn't buy it, but put it on my watch list. Now I do have the DVD and watched it. It's nice and funny movie starring Lisa Kudrow and Scott Prendergast.

The Leisure Seeker

Year: 2017

Genre: Comedy/ Drama

IMDB score: 6,6

My score: 7

Remark: This was one of the movies I got for Christmas. A very touching story about an elderly couple going on a holiday with their old RV.

Bad Taste

Year: 1987

Genre: Comedy/Horror

IMDB score: 6,7

My score: 7

Remark: A Peter Jackson movie. A funny horror movie, I liked watching it!

Liv

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials

Year: 2015

Genre: Action/Sci-Fi

IMDB score: 6,3

My score: 6,5

Remark: Part 2 of the "Maze Runner" trilogy. I re watched it as preparation for Dutch Comic Con Spring 2019, because Katherine McNamara plays the role of Sonya.

Maze Runner: The Death Cure

Year: 2018

Genre: Action/Sci-Fi

IMDB score: 6,2

My score: 6,5

Remark: Part 3 of the "Maze Runner" trilogy. Same story, watched it because of Katherine McNamara. I hadn't seen this last part yet. I did read the books a few years ago.

Day of the Dead: Bloodline

Year: 2018

Genre: Horror

IMDB score: 3,4

My score: 3

Remark: I gave it a try, because DCC announced Sophie Skelton as a guest. Skelton plays the lead role in what is supposed to be a remake of Romero's "Day of the Dead" (1985)...a very poor remake that is.

211

Year: 2018

Genre: Action/Crime

IMDB score: 4,4

My score: 5

Remark: I also watched this one, because of Sophie Skelton. The story revolves around Mike Chandler (Nicolas Cage).  Chandler is a veteran cop, who goes on a routine patrol with his partner (and son-in-law) MacAvoy (Dwayne Cameron) and ride-along Kenny (Michael Rainey Jr.). They stumble upon a bank heist gone wrong. The story is very predictable and it's far from Cage's best work like "Face Off".

Dumbo 3D

Year: 2019

Genre: Adventure/Fantasy

IMDB score: 6,6

My score: 7

Remark: It's not the best live action remake of a Disney movie,  but I really liked it. It's the first in a line of three Disney live action remakes in 2019. This May "Aladdin" will hit the cinemas and later this year (in July) "The Lion King" will be released. And especially the last one, I am really looking forward to!

Dirty Pretty Things

Year: 2002

Genre: Crime/Drama

IMDB score: 7,4

My score: 7,8

Remark: I watched it, because it stars a younger Benedict Wong and I really liked it. Especially the acting of Chiwetel Ejiofor, Audrey Tautou and Benedict Wong is great.

Le Jeu (Nothing to Hide)

Year: 2018

Genre: Comedy/Drama

IMDB score: 6,9

My score: 7,5

Remark: Like Carola already mentioned before, we watched this one together in the sneak preview. I really liked the concept of the movie and the fact that it's almost entirely set in the one apartment.

Jackie Brown

Year: 1997

Genre: Crime/Drama

IMDB score: 7,5

My score: 8

Remark: I re-watched this, because Pam Grier, who stars in the title role was announced for Weekend of Hell. The first time I watched it was when it came out in the cinema, now we are 22 years later and I still love it!
