This is the part where we write about the actors we've met at the conventions we attended. Check out the complete list of actors we've met. You can also use the search bar:
A few months ago, one of the most popular and (in my opinion) best shows ever came to an end. After eight seasons, "Game of Thrones" had its finale on the 19th of May 2019. It can be seen as the end of an era...for 8 years we followed the story of Westeros and its main families: the Starks, the Lannisters, the Targaeryans and many more. Every "Game of Thrones" fan can remember the moment he or she watched "The Red Wedding" episode and the phrase "Winter is Coming" got a whole new meaning. We all loved Tyrion with his witty remarks and we all loved to hate Cersei. There was one guy we all hated at first, but over the years we all grew to love him. This man was Jaime Lannister and the man behind the character known as The Kingslayer is Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. You can imagine how excited we were when CCXP Cologne announced that Nikolaj would be a guest at this brand new Comic Con Experience. We would be there on Saturday and Sunday and so would Nikolaj. When we saw the autograph and photo op prices we were a bit shocked about how high they were, but we were still happy to be able to attend his panel. We will talk about that later, but first let us tell you something more about the man behind the Jaime "the Kingslayer" Lannister....let's talk about Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
In 2018 I was so excited: I was going to meet Ted Raimi! Knowing him as Joxer from Xena, I was so thrilled. I used to watch Xena a lot. Years after I watched the series on TV, I bought all seasons on DVD and watched them again. And I can still remember it very well: The Joxer song! “Joooooxer, Joxer the Mighty!”
A few months ago we made our way to Dutch Comic Con Spring Edition 2019. As always they had an amazing actor/actress guest list, consisting of: Shannen Doherty, Tom Felton, Jennifer Morrison, Katherine McNamara, Sophie Skelton and Benedict Wong. I was so excited for Benedict to come to the Netherlands, as I am a huge Marvel fan (and DC for that matter). In 2016, Benedict set his first steps in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), when he was casted for the character of Wong (what a coincidence) in Marvel's "Doctor Strange", starring Benedict Cumberbatch (yes, another Benedict) as Doctor Stephen Strange. I knew I wanted to meet him, I just did not know if I would go for an autograph or a photo op yet. So are you curious about what I decided? Just read on!
Our Gotham story continues! After meeting Robin Lord Taylor and Sean Pertwee at German Comic Con, Liv was on a spree! We were both super excited, energetic and totally wild. (and yes, excited is an understatement!). Sooo... Liv wanted to do 'more' and 'something else'... And that's when adventures start. And where unforgettable meetings will happen. Yes! Whenever we are at a convention, there always comes a moment when I get impulsive. That's not always a good thing, but in this case it was. I love "Gotham" and walking around at German Comic Con, made me feel like a kid in a candy store. A big part of the "Gotham" cast was sitting there and in the weeks before German Comic Con, I had talked about wanting to meet Erin Richards (Barbara Kean) a lot of times. Well this was my chance and I took it with both hands! Let us tell you the story of meeting Erin Richards!
I started watching Gotham a few years ago. I instantly loved the series. And from the very first moment I had a favorite: as soon as I saw the Penguin in the series, I knew it. This is my favorite character. I started to watch the series without much knowledge of Batman, I haven't watched all the Batman movies. So I went in without favorites. And without a doubt I can say that the Penguin became my favorite character, because of the awesome acting of Robin Lord Taylor. And with that, he was in the top of my 'actors I'd like to meet' - list. I, contrary to Carola, am a huge "Batman" fan. I especially love the ones with Michael Keaton as the caped crusader and the "Dark Knight" trilogy. Oh and of course the "first Batman": Adam West. When I first heard of "Gotham", I knew I had to watch it. Just like Carola, I immediately loved Robin Lord's portrayal of Oswald Cobblepot a.k.a. The Penguin.
Recently Liv & I visited Comic Con Ghent. Number one reason for our visit was Brian Krause. Brian had been announced as a guest and as HUGE Charmed fans, Liv & I couldn't resist the chance to meet him. Before this year (2019) I didn't even expect to see Charmed guests at a convention. Not sure why. But Dutch Comic Con kicked off well: they invited Shannen Doherty! (It was awesome to meet her). After that, we saw that Comic Con Ghent had announced Brian Krause as guest. We just hád to go. Ever since I saw that Comic Con Gent announced Brian, I just wanted to go. I had already been to CCG once two years ago and I started hinting about it towards Carola. A few weeks before the event, we decided we couldn't miss the chance to meet our favorite Whitelighter.
Sunday, May 5th (Revenge of the Fifth!), we made our way to Ghent in Belgium for Comic Con Ghent 2019. Of course we will write a more extensive review of our day in one of Belgium's most beautiful cities, but for now we will give you a little photo overview of the things we did when we were over there!
"The power of three will set us free!" I heard it numerous times when I was younger in Charmed. It might have been my very first series addiction. My first DVD 'collection'. My favorite birthday present was a season of Charmed on DVD. I loved that series so much! Watching it until the middle of the night, always curious to see the next episode. And even after a few years of attending comic cons, I didn't expect I would be able to meet actresses or actors from Charmed. Luckily enough, Dutch Comic Con, invited Shannen Doherty! Hopefully, this will be the start of meeting all the Charmed ones :). Same here, I used to tape every episode of Charmed when it was on TV in the Netherlands. I always drew the triquetra on every piece of paper I could find. I too, own the complete "Charmed" collection on DVD. I remember the first time we had diner at Sigmund and Carola's place...we walked in and the first thing that caught my eye was the "Charmed" collection. It turned out to be Carola's and at that moment I knew 'this was the beginning of a beautiful friendship'. When Dutch Comic Con announced Shannen Doherty, I was over the moon. Not only am I a huge fan of "Charmed", I also used to be a huge fan of "Beverly Hills 90210" and "Little House on the Prairie" is one of my 'guilty pleasures'.
This weekend it's time for Weekend of Hell in Dortmund and we are so looking forward to it. We have been attending Weekend of Hell for many years now and we always have a blast. This particular Weekend of Hell took place in the Turbinenhallen in Oberhausen and it had an amazing guestlist. What to think of names, like: David Labrava ("Sons of Anarchy"), Mark Boone Jr. ("Sons of Anarchy", "Memento"), Michael Madsen ("Kill Bill", "Reservoir Dogs", "Donnie Brasco", "The Hateful Eight"), Brad Dourif ("Child's Play", "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest", "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers"), Amanda Bearse ("Married with Children", "Fright Night"), Corey Feldman ("Stand by Me", "The Lost Boys", "Gremlins", "The Goonies"), IronE Singleton ( "The Walking Dead"), Sarah Butler ("I Spit on your Grave"), Ken Foree ("Dawn of the Dead", "The Devil's Rejects", Rob Zombie's "Halloween"), Tony Todd ("Candyman", "The Crow") and Costas Mandylor ("Saw")...to name a few. And then there was William Baldwin, who I knew for "Backdraft", "Sliver" and "Flatliners". I especially loved his performance on "Backdraft", so I knew I wanted to meet him. And now with his new Netflix show "Northern Rescue", I thought it was time to talk some more about Mr. Baldwin.
This upcoming weekend it's time for Heroes Dutch Comic Con in the Jaarbeurshallen in Utrecht. As series and movie lovers, we are very excited about the guests of Dutch Comic Con 2019. These are the actors and actresses that will make their way to Utrecht: Shannen Doherty ("Charmed", "Beverly Hills 90210"), Jennifer Morrison ("House M.D.", "Once Upon a Time"), Katherine McNamara ("Shadowhunters", "Maze Runner" franchise), Benedict Wong ("Doctor Strange", "The Avengers: Infinity War"), Sophie Skelton ("Outlander") and Tom Felton ("Harry Potter"-franchise, "The Flash"). Last year Tom was a guest at the FACTS Fall Edition in Ghent and being a big "Harry Potter" fan, I had to be there. I attended his panel and bought a photo op with the man behind one of the most hated movie characters of the last decades: Draco Malfoy.
