In the spotlight: Norman Reedus!

We are not forgetting you, fans of "The Walking Dead"! I know we haven't been posting a lot about it lately. And since the new season will air on 23 October 2016, we thought this was the moment for a special "In the spotlight". We decided to write a spotlight about the most popular actor in The Walking Dead: Norman Reedus! This picture here is our own picture. Yes, we did see both Norman Reedus (right) ánd Andrew Lincoln (left) at Walker Stalker Con London. We didn't write a specific article about meeting them. For the simple reason that we didn't really meet them. I mean: We saw them (yay!). But we didn't have a photo op or autograph. So we didn't speak to one of them. We did see a part of their Q&A (from a distance) at Walker Stalker London. We were able to make some pictures there as you can see! And we're very happy of course we've been able to see them at a convention.

The Walking Dead

There are probably people reading this, who don't know Norman Reedus (Yes, I know that is hard to imagine as a big fan of The Walking Dead). So I'll start with "The Walking Dead". The Tv Series is based on the comic books made by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard. We'll write a series tip about The Walking Dead at some point. But I'll explain what it's about quickly now: There has been a worldwide zombie apocalypse (even though in the series they're called 'walkers' not 'zombies'). These walkers eat living humans and animals. Whenever a walker bites or scratches a human, they are infected. And they will become a walker as well. The series revolves around the group of Rick Grimes: A sheriff's deputy who wakes up from a coma and discovers the apocalypse.  He starts searching his wife and child. The whole series is mainly about Rick and the people he meets on the way. They form a group and try to survive. Rick is played by Andrew Lincoln (yes, the left one on the picture) and Norman Reedus plays Daryl, someone who is a part of Rick's group.

Norman Reedus turned out to be the fan favorite very soon. Everyone loves the character of 'Daryl'. Daryl is one of the few in this series to have been there from the start and is still alive. In The Walking Dead many characters die every season. For the fans it's always a matter of watching and waiting to find out if Daryl survives another season! Personally I think that Daryl is a nice character. But I think it's also a pity he grew out to be this major popular character. I have the feeling the makers won't kill off Daryl that quickly. Which makes the tension of watching less. For example: When he's in a car or on his motorcycle and I see lots of Walkers approaching, I'm not really afraid. Then I'm mainly thinking: Ah, this is Daryl, they won't give him such a death. (And maybe won't let him die at all. ever.). Fans explicitly want Daryl to survive. On the internet you can find so much merch saying 'If Daryl dies, we riot.'

Norman Reedus

From what I've seen and heard at Walker Stalker Con, Norman is a really nice guy. And his fans are really important to him. I've never seen a crowd so enthusiastic as for both Norman Reedus and Andrew Lincoln. I'm not exaggerating when I say that people were crying and screaming. Literally.  Andrew couldn't even go to the bathroom without security around him: Groups of people would run to them. At a certain moment I heard this loud noise of people screaming. Oh yes, it was Andrew going to the bathroom. This, just to point out both of their popularity! Now back to Norman Reedus. Because he isn't just 'Daryl'! Norman Reedus is an American actor, born in Florida.  He was raised in Los Angeles, but has also lived in Japan, Spain and Ireland. He has had a relationship with Helena Christensen. They have a son together.

Norman Reedus has played in several movies/ series. Do you know him from anything else than The Walking Dead? Well, let me you help you a little. He played in:

- Boondock Saints and Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (As Murphy McManus).

- Blade II (as Scud)

- Charmed (2 episodes as Nate Park)

- Six Ways to Sunday (as Harry Odum)

- Red Canyon (As Mac)

- He has his own reality mini series: Ride With Norman Reedus. (6 episodes). (2016)

Let us know: Did you already know Norman Reedus? What do you think of him? Who's your favorite in the Walking Dead?

I love the walking dead, but for some reason I still didn't finish the second half of the 6th season. Daryl is my apsolute favorite character and I have a huge crush on Norman. I even watch a german movie that had a 2 minutes scene with him :D But the movie was actually pretty good. It's called Antibodies.

It is important that celebrities be level headed.

Let me digress from the topic. Fans screaming reminds of the days of the Beatles. If he was that popular, how come I have not heard of him? And no, I do not mean this in a negative way. What I mean is it made me realize how I have been so out of the movie scene. When I was younger, I loved watching all kinds of movies. It has been years already since I watch a movie in a cinema ... oh, it is more than a decade already.

Will I return to watching movies? Perhaps when I take a step back from work someday. I would have more time, and I could not think of an activity I would love to do than to watch movies every single day.

Norman Reedus as Daryl is my favorite in The Walking Dead. I love his moves and even the manner of his speaking and on how he looks at people. I just love his sincerity and faithfulness. I even love how he dresses and how he seldom brushes off some hair from his face.

The Walking Dead is really popular these days. Even my brother watches the series. It's great how they expanded a zombie movie and made a series out of it. It's probably one of the few series I'll like.

I know a lot of people who are complete fanatics of the series and I have never even seen a single episode. When I was reading I was like, who is this guy? LOL. Was interesting to read a little about him and you just might get me to start watching the series.

Hey Sheri! I feel you! Although I fell for the funtastic trap that is Game of Thrones, I too have never watched a single episode of the Walking dead. I don't know, maybe it's because of the fact that when they play it here in the PH, or when I see it rolling, it's in the middle of the night and I'm too scared shit to watch zombies. :D

I love the recommendations at the end though, at least there are other shows where I can see him. I'll be watching charmed soon then. :D

    Hey Carola
I did want to finish an episode and return back to this. I wasn't really awake about its next season airing this year. That was a great information as I wanted to finish the previous ones before. Haha.

I started watching the series and then stopped becaus I thought the plot lost its initial freshness. I'll probably catch it again, since I do appreciate Norman Reedus a lot! He really gives shape to its character, love it!

Pachinko might be worth a bunch, but from what I’ve read, digital entertainment still made up a big part of their profits. We’ll see how that develops. I doubt they care much about Kojima, though. It’s just one guy, after all. Big name, certainly, but it’s not like the world doesn’t spin without him.
